One of the best things about our job is contributing to projects that impact the community positively. In February, we wrapped up one of our favorite projects to date at the newly established Quad, which utilized our commercial garage door expertise. Read on for the details.
From The Bend Bulletin to the Quad
If you’ve lived in Bend for any amount of time, you know about the Bend Bulletin. The newspaper and town-staple got its start in 1903 and, nearly a century later, moved into an iconic 86,445 square foot building on Chandler Avenue (named for one of the founders). In 2017, Next Development Group purchased the space to turn it into a unique office hub for Bend. The Quad at Skyline Ridge, as it’s now called, is “a space that is adaptable, fluid and lovely, and can accommodate businesses of just about any size.”
The overall design focused on modernizing the space while keeping the building’s “core ambiance.” The old printing press room, for example, is now a creative flex space. Central Oregon Garage Door’s part in the remodel likewise contributed creatively to the new design.
Our commercial garage door expertise in action
It’s true that we love a good custom-made wooden garage door for a client’s home. But there’s something special about commercial garage door projects to this scale. The new Quad building’s collaborative nature required full-view doors that give each office space plenty of light and add a unique and modern touch. We used a total of 26 CHI 3295 manufactured full-view doors throughout the building.
In addition, we installed seven operable doors where these individual office units opened into common areas. Our technicians mounted powder-coated track and hardware above a drop ceiling and added springs lines for a subtle finish. All of which contributed to the building’s overall sleek and modern appearance.
The result
After a long planning process, we wrapped up phase one of this project in February 2021. Dozens of our full-view doors inside the building makes the space feel open, light, and collaborative. With a total of 19 fixed garage door panels in this first phase, we’re now in the process of adding more in phase two. Overall, this project is an amazing blend of contemporary and craftsman style where CHI doors are the focal points that invite collaborative work. We’re proud to have contributed to such a unique remodel of an iconic Bend building.
